From the award-winning Philip Ardagh, and rising illustration talent Elissa Elwick, comes the Little Adventurers – Finnegan, Sprat, Floss and Peanut. Each week they meet in their top-secret shed HQ. This week, Sprat can’t seem to find his cat, Shadow, anywhere. And he absolutely has to have a pet – it’s bring in a pet day. So, instead, he finds a leaf, draws a little face on it and… Ta-Da! Sprat has a pet: Leafy! But can you really have a leaf as a pet?

You can meet Philip and Elissa at the Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival.

Things are not going well for Jackson ‘Jax’ Hibert. He wanted to fit in at his new school but now everyone knows he’s a maths whizz. Even worse, he’s been asked to join a secret (and totally uncool) group of code breakers: the Codebusters. Their mission is to solve mysteries and fight crime. So far, they’ve found a missing hamster… But now, someone has stolen the school’s math prize from the trophy cabinet, and the only clue is a mysterious code. This looks like a case for the Codebusters! Funny, exciting or a little bit spooky, Black Cats are fast-paced stories with short chapters and illustrations throughout – stepping stones to reading confidence.

Dan will be running a writing workshop at this summer’s Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival.

Everyone loves superheroes, they solve problems and make people happy, and that’s good because Adam’s mum needs cheering up. Also, he’s found out that before he was adopted his real mum called him ACE. So now he’s just got to prove to the world that’s what he is. One mission at a time…

Hilarious, heart-warming and heart-breaking in equal measure, this is a story about the power in all of us to be extraordinary.

You can meet Lara at this summer’s Brentwood Children’s Literary Festival.

Just Call Me Spaghetti-Hoop Boy is our Book Club title for September.
